Rick Davison

Chief Financial Officer

Rick Davison is Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer for SMBC Group in the Americas. He was appointed to this role on October 3, 2022. Rick is responsible for annual budgets and forecasts, financial resource management and optimization activities, management reporting and analytics, the timeliness and accuracy of financial and regulatory reports and statements, and the oversight of internal controls for financial and regulatory reporting aligned with regulatory expectations. He maintains direct oversight for the Controllers, Tax Department, Portfolio Management Group, Product Control, Procurement, Regulatory Reporting, Change Management, and Financial Planning and Analysis.
 
As CFO, Rick will continue to be responsible for leading key programs such as the Finance Transformation efforts, inclusive of the CUSO-wide Oracle General Ledger implementation and the organization’s Regulatory Reporting Remediation and Transformation program.

Prior to SMBC, Rick was the U.S. Chief Financial Officer for the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), where he was responsible for providing primary oversight in the U.S. on all finance-related areas, including capital adequacy, financial planning, financial and regulatory reporting, and general business advisory.

While at RBC, Rick was Co-Head of its CCAR program within Group Risk Management. Prior to this leadership role, he held several increasingly responsible roles since 2008, including Head of Performance Management, which encompassed regional management reporting, business advisory, budgeting, local board reporting, and financial forecasting.

Before his career with RBC, Rick was with Barclays Capital for three years, where he spent time in its New York, London, and Singapore offices in various finance roles.

Rick holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Villanova University.
