A top-tier Japanese bank and core member of Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group (SMFG), a Tokyo-based bank holding company ranked amongst the largest banks globally by assets under management. SMBC branches in EMEA are in London, Brussels, Dubai and Düsseldorf.

SMBC Bank International plc (SMBC BI) is headquartered in London with a branch in Paris and Abu Dhabi and is a wholly owned subsidiary of SMBC. It was established in March 2003 as Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation Europe Limited (SMBCE) and changed its name and re-registered as a public limited company in 2020. It serves corporate and sovereign institutional customers in the United Kingdom and in non-European Economic Area (non-EEA) countries across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

SMBC Bank EU AG (SMBC EU) is a credit institution established in Germany with its head office in Frankfurt and seven branches across Europe in Amsterdam, Dublin, Paris, Düsseldorf, Madrid, Milan and Prague. Established in 2017, SMBC Bank EU AG provides business and financial services in the European Economic Area (EEA) as a wholly owned European subsidiary of SMBC.

SMBC Nikko Capital Markets Limited (SMBC Nikko) market and trades an extensive range of over-the-counter derivative contracts. It has one subsidiary, SMBC Derivative Products Limited, which undertakes derivatives business and offers bespoke services for clients.

SMBC Leasing (UK) Limited (SMBCL) was established in the UK in 1986 and provides extensive knowledge to provide, arrange and advise on leases and other asset-based financing products across the EMEA region. SMBCL is 70% owned by SMBC and 30% owned by Sumitomo Mitsui Finance and Leasing Company Limited.

Sumitomo Mitsui Finance Dublin Limited (SMFD) offers a growing range of support services to SMBC Group Companies from the heart of Dublin’s Georgian quarter. for SMBC was established in Ireland in 1989 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of SMBC.

SMBC Advisory Services Saudi Arabia LLC (SMBC Saudi) is based in Riyadh and conducts arranging and corporate financial advisory business activities in Saudi Arabia. It was established in 2017.
