Fostering a sense of belonging

We believe people perform best when they feel a sense of belonging. DRIVE (Diversity, Respect, Inclusion, Value, and Equality) is SMBC EMEA’s umbrella for employee-led diversity networks, focused on gender equality, LGBT+ inclusion, racial and ethnic inclusion, and support for colleagues with disabilities, neurodiversity, and long-term health conditions.

 
A gender inclusive workplace

We’re committed to promoting gender parity and inclusion across SMBC. Since joining the Women in Finance Charter in March 2017, we’ve increased senior female representation in EMEA from 16% to 27.2%. We support gender pay legislation and have reduced our pay gap each year since its introduction in the UK.

 
Going above and beyond

We are signatories to the Race at Work Charter and take a zero-tolerance approach to racism. In line with our commitments, we provide targeted career development for minority ethnic employees. As members of the Disability Confident scheme, we work to ensure disabled, neurodivergent colleagues and those with long-term conditions are supported.
