SMBC supports the first-ever EMEA Data Centre Asset Backed Securitisation transaction
SMBC supported Vantage Data Centers, a leading global provider of hyperscale data centre campuses, in a landmark securitization transaction, marking the first-ever data centre Asset-Backed Securitization (ABS) issuance in EMEA.
Our Structured Finance and Debt Capital Markets teams successfully facilitated the issuance of £600 million in Green securitized term notes and £100 million in unfunded Variable Funding Notes. The term notes were awarded strong credit ratings of A- (Standard & Poor’s), A (low) (Morningstar DBRS), and A (Scope Ratings), reflecting the high quality of the underlying assets and structure.
The notes will be used to refinance £480 million of debt in two facilities (CWL11 and CWL13) on Vantage’s 148MW Wales campus, along with further capex and general corporate requirements.
This transaction represents a significant milestone in the evolution of Data Centres financing in EMEA. It also underscores SMBC’s position as a leading lender in the sector and our ability to provide sustainable financing solutions through the life of the asset.
