Energy is a major component of the SMBC group Global Trade Finance Department’s (GTFD) commodity financing activity. We work with oil majors, crude and product traders to facilitate the movement of energy cargoes around the world.

GTFD has specialist teams in Tokyo, London, New York, Singapore and Hong Kong in support of this activity. In addition to offering traditional trade financing techniques to assist our customers in their day-to-day trading activities, GTFD Commodities has assisted its customers with finance for storage and blending of products and in hedging counterparty payment risks.
