Seminar held in Moscow on the development of major energy and transport projects and international LNG experience
The seminar was organised by Sovcomflot (SCF Group) – the largest shipping company in Russia – with presentations by SMBCE and Wood MacKenzie.

Presenters from SMBCE included Nick Pitts-Tucker, executive director and co-head of international and structured finance; Noriyuki Kawachi, head of the London shipping team; and Stanislas Roger, the global head of shipping finance. All made speeches about the current development in the LNG market with a particular focus on Qatar and China. References were also made to the Russian Federation’s energy strategy, whereby the development of LNG technologies could become a key element.

The seminar, chaired by Mr Naryshkin, chairman of the board of directors of the SCF Group and chief of staff to the president of Russia, concentrated on specific topics of LNG development – including the construction of LNG ships – and received significant interest from the Russian business and political establishment.

More than thirty people attended, including senior officials from the government ministries of Energy, Industry & Trade, Economic Development, and Transport, as well as the Agency of Sea & River Transport, and the Ports Authority.

The Russian business community was represented by Gazprom Global LNG, Gazprom, Gazpromexport, Gazprombank, Shtokman Development AG, Rosneft, Novatek, Gazflot, OPK (United Industrial Corporation), OSK, Vyborg Shipyard, Rosnefteflot, and VEB.
