SMBC has an unsurpassed record for providing international finance to our customers in Iceland as the leading arranger of international finance, a pre-eminent position that has been developed since 1984. Since that time, we have been involved in over 100 transactions - including syndicated loans, private debt placements in the US and Japan, Japanese Leveraged Leases, interest rate and currency swaps, and FRNs. Traditionally, syndicated loans have been our main area of business - SMBC has been involved in over 60 loans, and arranged 55 of these, underwriting over USD1 billion of medium term debt for Iceland in the past 15 years. Most recently, we have been active, through our joint venture company Daiwa Securities SMBC, as a dealer on the EMTN programmes of Landsbanki, Islandsbanki, Bunadarbanki and Landsvirkjun.
