SMBC opened the doors of the international syndicated loan market for Czech customers with the first medium term transaction following the Velvet Revolution with its syndicated loan for CSOB. Since then SMBC has arranged debut facilities for Komercni Banka and CEZ a.s., other deals arranged by SMBC include further deals for CSOB and Komercni, a USD200 million facility and ECU100 million EIB guarantee facility for CEZ a.s., the first in emerging Europe, a DEM280m facility for CEZ a.s., We have participated in a number of other transactions, and have recently concluded another EIB guarantee for CEZ a.s. for $85 million , so arranging all their syndicated facilities.
