SMBC Global Foundation, Inc. adheres to the following guidelines to ensure “best practice” standards of grant making, and to effectively achieve the Foundation’s charitable goals in a uniform way through its grant making choices.

Foundation Goals and Eligibility Requirements

  • The Foundation will only accept grant requests and/or seek to create longer-term projects with accredited 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organizations that have strong financials and have demonstrated a credible track record of achievement in their field.
  • All grant proposals shall contain at least the following:
      • Detailed description of the intended use of the grant or scholarship funds.
      • Proof of 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status (except at the Directors’ discretion).
      • Most recent and complete information regarding the organization’s finances and history.
      • Detailed project plan and estimated budget.
  • Upon the completion of any project or academic year of an annually awarded scholarship, the grantee/organization shall prepare a final report to be submitted to the Foundation. 
  • In the case of an ongoing project, interim reports shall be submitted by the grantee at least annually and/or at the Foundation’s request.
