Richard Eisenberg

Co-Head of Coverage & Capital Markets

Richard Eisenberg is a Managing Executive Officer, Co-Head of Corporate & Investment Banking Coverage & Capital Markets and Deputy Head of the Americas. He was appointed a Managing Executive Officer on April 1, 2022. Richard is based in our New York Office.

Previously, Richard was appointed Executive officer and given oversight of the firm’s Coverage and Capital Markets businesses in April 2021. Richard was named co-Head of Corporate and Investment Banking Coverage beginning in April 2019.

The growth and expansion of the corporate and investment banking business is a global strategic priority for SMBC Group. Richard’s team in the Americas leverages the combination of its industry specialization, corporate finance expertise and exceptional transaction execution to deliver tailored, innovative corporate finance solutions to clients. He is also an executive sponsor of our employee-led resource group, Black Organization for Leadership and Development.

Throughout his banking career, Richard has worked with many public and private companies across a range of advisory and financing activities, both domestically and internationally.

Richard joined SMBC in 2016 and co-led the Investment Banking business, responsible for investment banking sector coverage and M&A advisory.

Prior to SMBC, Richard led Nomura Securities’ U.S. Media and Communications investment banking business for three years. He also spent two years at UBS Securities. Richard began his banking career at J.P. Morgan Securities, where he held a series of progressive positions from 1998-2011, in the Technology, Media, and Telecom investment banking group.

Richard has a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, and a Master of Business Administration from New York University Stern School of Business. He holds Series 24, 63, and 79 FINRA licenses.
